How to Execute a Test Plan Using JMeter

In order to start executing the test plan, you must install and set your JMeter. Here’s a quick overview of Installing JMeter and its Configuration:

JMeter is one of the most popular tools available in the market. It is open source software, a 100% pure Java application designed to load test functional behavior and measure performance. It was originally designed for testing Web Applications but has since expanded to other test functions and is a widely used performance testing tool in the IT industry.

JMeter Configuration

Recently, JMeter v2.13 has been released. In the latest version recording has been improved to better handle embedded resources and creation of certificates on the fly. For efficient working, the latest version of java/JDK is preferred.

How to Install JMeter?

Download the latest version of JMeter available at https://JMeter.apache.org/. Extract the folder onto a specified location. Make sure the latest version of java/JDK is installed on the system. If not, install the java and set the environmental variables accordingly.

  1. Build a test plan using JMeter
  2. Configure your browser to use the JMeter Proxy
  3. Record your navigation

Once you have finished installing and configuring JMeter, you are ready to run the test plan and see what happens. Please save the test plan before running it. There are two ways to run the test.

  1. Run -> Start
  2. Ctrl–R

Before you start the test, select the “Summary Report”. As the test runs, the statistics will change until the test is done. At the end of the test, the summary report should look like this.

While the test is running, in the upper right-hand corner, there should be a green square.

When the test is done, the box should be grey.
